In the 2017 Pulse of the Fashion Industry report, the Boston Consulting Group and Global Fashion Agenda polled over 90 senior managers responsible for sustainability issues across a range of fashion firms to identify which barriers prevent progress and which stakeholders should take responsibility.

The poll showed that the main barriers to progress on sustainability span from consumers’ willingness to pay, a lack of regulations and a failure to collaborate.

The managers were also encouraged to share their perspectives on the best ways to advance the industry’s standing on sustainability. They view consumers, shareholders and industry associations as the three main contributors to driving the industry towards greater sustainability.
