Petersen comes from a background in the United Nations and politics. As a business developer, Petersen has helped the United Nations forge partnerships and expand its operations in a number of countries around the world. As a local politician, Petersen is well familiar with working across sectors and viewpoints to find solutions that work. Petersen also set up and helped run the internationally aclaimed think-tank, the Copenhagen Consensus Center, where solutions to the world’s biggest challenges were ranked by nobel laureate economists according to their effect in solving the issues at hand.

Petersen holds a Master in International Business from Copenhagen Business School as well as a Master in African Studies.
